An enjoyable album of old-time string band music from a 4 member band that comes from a mountain area that borders on the states of Virginia and West Virginia. It’s an area where the now famous Henry Reed lived, and all the members of this band credit Reed as a major influence in their playing. As a matter of fact, the guitar player, Dean Reed, is a son of Henry Reed. Other members are Chris Via (2-finger banjo), Bill Blevins (fiddle) and Angie Via (Bass), and they cite Oscar Wright, Melvin Wine, Ivan Weddle (a Floyd Countian) and Thornton Spencer as influences (good stuff!). They play most of the pieces in a solid, sprightly manner. Songs: 1. Round Town Gals 2. Rachael 3. Old Joe Clark 4. Blue Ridge 5. Stony Point 6. Dinah 7. Old Spinning Wheel 8. Mississippi Sawyer 9. Shortin' Bread 10. Little Dog Jim 11. Cacklin Hen 12. Jimmy Johnson Bring Your Jug Around the Hill 13. Sugar Hill 14. Richmond
