Building Blocks of Guitar Through Old Time and Bluegrass with Stash Wyslouch

The Handmade Music School presents Building Blocks of Guitar Through Old Time and Bluegrass with Stash Wyslouch on Thursday, September 17, 2020 at 3:00pm EDT. The workshop is presented via Crowdcast as part of our Handmade at Home online series. Cost is $1 to $100 (suggested donation of $15).

Building Blocks of Guitar Through Old Time and Bluegrass with Stash Wyslouch

This workshop will give an overview of fundamental building blocks and how they lay out on the guitar within the musical framework of old time and bluegrass music in both rhythm and lead contexts. You’ll walk away from this workshop with ideas on how to structure your practice routine and build knowledge of the fretboard with real musical examples.

Stash Wyslouch is a songwriter, composer, guitarist, and teacher known for his whacky neo-bluegrass guitar style, inventive compositions and improvisations. He’s released three albums of original music and played on dozens of records as a supporting musician. Stash plays guitar in the old time trio Molsky’s Mountain Drifters and can also be found playing guitar with the Jacob Jolliff Band, and Tony Trischka’s Early Roman Kings. As a teacher, Stash stresses the importance of fundamentals and tradition as a jumping off point to find one’s own voice and go as outside or inside of a tune or song as one would like.

Please consider a donation to today’s teaching artist and The Handmade Music School (a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization). Thanks!
