Fiddling as a Whole with Rachel Eddy
August 11 @ 3:00 pm| Sliding Scale
The Handmade Music School presents Fiddling as a Whole with Rachel Eddy on Tuesday, August 11, 2020 at 3:00pm EDT. The workshop will be presented via Crowdcast as part of our Handmade at Home online series. Cost is $1 to $100 (suggested donation of $15). This workshop is suitable for all levels.
During this workshop we will learn a tune, and use it to explore the deeper levels of playing fiddle beyond just the notes. There are many aspects of fiddling including tone, bowing patterns, and phrasing of notes to make a tune groove that will be discussed. Additionally, good mechanics and economy of motion to help make fiddling flow smoothly, and avoid repetitive stress injuries will be covered. Regardless of your current playing ability, there will be something useful for everybody at every stage of learning in this workshop!
Rachel Eddy is a native of West Virginia who grew up in a musical family steeped in the traditions of Appalachian music and dance.
