Food insecurity in many places in America is real. As of 2026 one in six people in the US are going to bed hungry, and one in five families live at or below the poverty line. Floyd County in not excluded from this. The Pay It Forward Program at the Floyd Country Store was started in 2017 and has served 1000s of free meals to those in need. We are hoping to keep the meals coming but we need the gracious help of the greater community to do that. We have folks that rely on this program on a regular basis.
The concept of the PAY IT FORWARD program is an easy one, anyone can purchase a $10 Pay It Forward coupon, which will allow the recipient to choose from several different meals. You can leave the coupon at the counter for someone to walk in and redeem or give it directly to someone you know.
A person in need of a meal can go to the counter and ask if there are any Pay It Forward coupons, no questions asked, and then choose which meal they want.
