Woodworking has always been in my family in one way or another. My grandfathers, uncles, and father have influenced my love for renovation and craftsmanship. As a child I had a set of handcrafted toys, built by my father and Uncle Bill. I still remember playing with these wooden trucks and cars on my Grandmother's living room floor. In late 2020, I decided to try and recreate some of these heirloom toys that my kids now play with, that are close to 40yrs old. What I didn't know until then, is that my father and uncle had a small business called B&B Woodcrafters with a full catalog of toys they had designed and built through the 70's and 80's. Now almost 50yrs later, Black and Sons is recreating these handmade heirloom style wooden toys. The vehicles are built from spruce and southern pine, and the wheels are turned from maple and birch. These toys are built with little to no fasteners,in small batches, just like in the 70's. All toys are fine-sanded and have no finish on them. They can be stained, painted, or can just be left natural to age. My hope is they last for generations and bring years of enjoyment, just as mine have.
